Off-road devotees love the fact that Defender can ford up to 35 inches of water thanks to its 11.5 inches of ground clearance. And with all that power under the hood, the Defender rates an admirable 19 combined city-highway MPG. Equally impressive is the SUV's acceleration capability. It reaches 60 MPH from a standstill in around 6.2 seconds, but the supercharged V-8 model makes that trip in a lightning-fast 4.4 seconds.

Defender is also big on high-tech safety features, like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, all of which are standard.
